About Lincoln Martial Arts Classes
Children from 4 to 10 years old have classes every Monday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 to 6:50 pm. The training in traditional karate is presented in a fun and exciting way that keeps children coming back for more. Elements on handling social interactions are included in the sessions to help avoid bullying and intimidation. As children gain skills and capability in karate training, self-confidence and self-esteem increase.
Children begin to focus their attention and learn respect and compassion. Younger children starting at 4 years old will enjoy our “Young Dragons” program that is tailored to provide an active physical class with fun activity designed to get them moving and develop attention skills along with learning to interact well with other children. The emphasis is placed on the physical skills of karate and not on the elements requiring longer term memory such as kata.
The youth and adult classes are held from 7:00 to 8:30 pm every Monday and Thursday. The dojo is run in the traditional Japanese style. Classes begin with warm up exercises and lead directly into basics which include all elements of karate (punches, blocks, strikes, kicks, etc.).
Each class is dedicated to specific aspects of training and students progress through all the essential elements of karate and self-defence. Classes may include kata, sparring, weapons, and self-defence strategies and techniques.
